Books of the week!!

This weeks books of the week are The Wall by Eve Bunting and Warm Clothes for Bear by Sam Loman. Our upper elementary kids enjoyed The Wall which tells the story of a little boy and his father visiting the Vietnam memorial wall in Washington DC. They go to look for the name of the boys grandfather who died in the war. While looking for his name they encounter other families who are remembering their loved ones also lost. This moving tale really shows the impact of war on many different families and is a great reminder of why we celebrate Veterans Day and why we honor our Veterans who have died and the ones who are still with us. Our lower Elementary enjoyed reading Warm Clothes for Bear about a bear who dressed up in warm clothes for a snow day but ends up giving all his clothes to his friends who were not as prepared. It's a great reminder that while we are being kind to others we must also remember to be kind to ourselves. I hope all of you enjoy the long weekend and I'll see you back here on Monday.
