Books of the Week.

This week we are reading After the Fall by Dan Santat and When Martin Luther King Jr. wore roller skates by Mark Weakland. After the Fall is an inspiring story that I like to read at the start of a new semester or indeed a new year. It tells the story of what Humpty Dumpty did after he fell of the wall. After his fall he became afraid of heights and didn't want to climb anymore. Even though he loved being up high and watching the birds his fear kept him on the ground. Until one day he got an idea that helped him to overcome his fear. It's a great story to discuss themes like never giving up and persevering through hardships. Our other title this week is When Martin Luther King Jr. wore roller skates; it tells the story of Martin's childhood. I like this biography for our younger readers because even though we know a lot about Martin as a great man it was nice to read a bit about his childhood and the events that led him to be the person he became. I hope you all enjoy your long weekend and we will see you back in the library on Wednesday.
