Book of the week: Day of the Dead by Rachel Grack!!!

Updated: Oct 28, 2021

This week most loved book was Day of the Dead by Rachel Grack. Day of the Dead is a celebration in many Mexican and Latin American cultures. Though celebrated around the same time as Halloween both holidays actually have nothing to do with each other. Dia a de los Muertos is a holiday that honors the dead and is not a sad event but considered a celebration of life. The holiday is celebrated on the 1st and 2nd of November. In celebration people create Ofrendas (alters) to the family members they have lost. Alters usually contain photos, candles, flowers and belongings of the dead. The celebration sometimes culminates into a festival at a cemetery where people burn inscence and put flowers on graves. Revelers are happy to celebrate the people they have lost. If you want to learn more come by the libarary and check this one out!!
